During Bouchard’s time as Oakland County sheriff, his department’s spending increased by over 70%, and he has defended efforts to purchase a hovercraft, an armored urban assault vehicle, a fleet of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, two $2 million French-made helicopters that require $1.6 million/yr. for upkeep, a $300,000 mobile command unit, $1,300 bicycles, a $7,000 cell phone jammer, $18,500 worth of night goggles and his own lobbyist.
